Apple/Apfel (Tutorial)

Hallo,

Was man alles braucht:

Aber was macht man nun damit?

Hi there,
today I'm going to share how to make an apple.

(Yes, I admit it. I am a huge Twilight fan ;o))

What you need:
  • a small piece of (red) fabric (I used fleece, you can use knit or woven cotton, as well)
  • matching thread
  • filling
  • if on hand red embroidery floss (you can also use the sewing thread)
  • a piece fo green and brown felt
  • hot glue gun
1. Start by sewing a little ball out of that red fabric. You can find a great tutorial here with a pattern, too. I enlarged mine a bit, but you can do whatever size you want. When you get the pattern you can just paste it into a document and just enlarge it.

My embroidery floss doesn't match the fleece color, but you won't be able to see it anyway.

2. Take your ball and the embroidery floss (or sewing thread) and with a needle stick it in one of the ends, where the six pieces of your ball come together and get it out on the opposite end. (Don't forget too make a knot at the end) Pull at that thread/floss and you'll notice the ball is making an apple shape. Stick the needle back into the apple and secure the floss/thread on the other side.

3. From the brown felt, cut out a little square. The length is up to you. This will be the stem, so determine how long your stem is supposed to be, that will be your square length. Roll it into a little stem and secure with hot glue.

Then cut out a leave shape and glue it in one of the little dents you made and then the stem.

On the otherside, I just glued a little felt circle in.

And you're done.

Now what do you do with this?
You can use it as a pin cushion. I would fill the bottom with rice or something similar for extra stability.
OR...
You can make your dad a weird hat, that he needs for a play he participates in. ;o)
I also had to make him a costume and I am going to share that with you, too. Along with a picture of the funny apple hat.
Have a fabulous day.
