Tinkelbell-Costume / Tinkerbell Kostüm

In Germany, we celebrate something called Fasching/Karneval, which is a little like Mardi Gras. Every year around Feburary and March children and adults get dressed up and have parties. Of course, my niece needed a costume for her kindergarten-party and of course, I made it. Last year before Halloween, all kinds of costume tutorials popped up and I was at total loss. I mean there were so many great things and I just pinned them all and thought I would ask my niece what she would like to be. Until I found THE most adorable Tinkerbell costume, EVER. I mean it was so cute and I couldn't stop thinking about it and so I just "asked" (ahem, yeah, maybe we should call it "ordered") her to be Tinkerbell. She was a good sport about it, though, and actually wanted to be Tinkerbell. Yay for my super awesome niece for tolerating her crazy aunt.

And you can also see my huge fail. It was too small in the beginning so I had to put a little strip of fabric in there so it would fit. Ahh, well. It's not like the seamrippers and I aren't great friends. Yup, seamripperS. I have several, because I keep misplacing them. I have two left over from my grandmother, one from a sewing supply kit, I bought a while back and one with my new sewing machine. You might think that I have one at hand all the time, but no, I always have to search for them... Does that happen to other people, too?

I also made matching shoes to got with the dress. You know these little ballerina/gymnast shoes? I bought a pair and hot-glued two fuzzy white yarn balls on top of those. They are gone now though. So if you're searching for something more durable, than I suggest a different glue. But honestly for one party they held pretty good, especially considering my niece did (and might I add as a proud aunt: won) a bobby car race and played other active games.

I think it would be possible to paint these with acrylic paint. This might not hold for like forever, but definetly for one party.

I also made wings, but the picture is horrible. I'm sorry, somehow the glitter looks all splotchy and not very pretty. They are better in real life, I promise.

Also etwas spät, aber heute gibts mein Faschingskostüm für meine Nichte. Letztes Jahr om Oktober gab es viele, viele Posts von selbstgemachten Kostümen für Halloween und ich war nur minimal überfordert. So viele tolle Sachen und ich konnte meine Nicht in jedem einzelnen sehen. Also hab ich erst mal alle gepinned und mir gedacht, dass ich sie wenns soweit ist, einfach frage, was sie sein möchte und dann gucken, ob ich da was für sie schon gepinned habe. BIS ich das absolut wahnsinnig tollste Tinkerbell-Kostüm der Welt gesehen habe. Ab da war dann klar, dass sie als Tinkerbell gehen MUSS. Ich habe sie also gefragt (vielleicht auch befohlen ;o)), ob sie denn als Tinkerbell gehen möchte und sie wollte. Hurra, für meine tolle Nichte, die ihre verrückte Tante toleriert.

Ich hab einen Reißverschluss hinten dran genäht. Im Original wirds hinten gebunden.

Und hier kann man auch meinen riesigen Fail sehen. Am Anfang war das Kleid nämlich etwas zu eng deswegen musste ich es mit einem kleinen Streifen weiter machen. Ach, naja, es ist ja nicht so, dass die Saumauftrenner und ich nicht Freunde sind. Jap, die Saumauftrenner. Ich habe mehrere. Zwei sind von meiner Oma, einen aus so einem Nähset vom Aldi und einer war bei der neuen Nähmaschine dabei. Da denkt man doch, ich hab immer einen parat, wenn ich einen brauche, aber nein, ich muss immer wieder danach suchen. Geht das anderen auch so?

Ich hab auch passende Schuhe dazu gemacht. Und zwar habe ich einfach zwei weiße Woll-PomPoms auf Gymnsatikschühchen geklebt. Ich habe es mit Heiß-Klebe gemacht, aber das hat nicht sehr lange gehalten. Die Party haben sie zwar überstanden, danach waren sie dann aber schnell wieder ab. Wenn man also was Haltbareres will, dann sollte man sich einen anderen Kleber suchen. Aber eigentlich hat es ganz gut gehalten. Vor allem, wenn man bedenkt, dass meine Nichte damit in einem Bobby-Car-Rennen gefahren ist und wenn ich das als stolze Tante anmerken darf, sie hat das Rennen auch gewonnen. Vorteil von dem Heiß-Kleber, die PomPoms sind bei mir rückstandslos wieder abgegangen, man kann sie also zum Turnen noch gebrauchen.

Ich denke, es wäre auch möglich gewesen, sie mit Acrylfarbe anzumalen. Das wäre wahrscheinlich auch nichts für die Ewigkeit geworden, aber für eine Party hätte es gelangt.

Selbstgemachte Flügel gibts auch noch, allerdings sind die Bilder furchtbar. Der Glitzer schaut total fleckig aus und nicht besonders schön. In der Realität siehts besser aus.

Sugarchalk (no it's not something to eat) - Zuckerkreide (nein, leider nichts zum Essen)

Ich bin zurück! Es tut mir leid, aber ich glaube so wird das sein. Erst poste ich eine Weile ein paar Sachen und dann verschwinde ich wieder. Aber ich verspreche, ich werde immer zurück kommen und zwar mit vielen tollen Sachen. Da ich kein Geld mit diesem Blog verdiene und verdienen möchte, denke ich ist das ok. Da ich weiß, dass es endsdoof ist ständig auf meine Seite zu gehen und zu gucken, ob ich was gepostet habe, fände ich es toll, wenn ihr mich abonnieren würdet. Entweder per Mail oder RSS. GFC kann ich nicht empfehlen, da die Zukunft davon noch in den Sternen steh.

Jedenfalls, habt ihr schon mal was von Zuckerkreide gehört? Es ist ein kleines, aber feines Kunstprojekt das man mit seinen Kindern oder Schülern machen kann. Tatsächlich habe ich das erste mal von einer Dozentin an der Uni davon gehört. Ich studiere Grundschullehramt, falls das jemand wissen möchte. An dem Tag, an dem die Dozentin uns davon erzählt habe, hab ichs gleich mal gegoogelt und viele Rezepte gefunden und zwar hier und hier und hier und hier. Sie funktionieren alle ungefähr ähnlich, heute werde ich jedenfalls zeigen, wie ichs gemacht hab.

Zuckerkreiden sind wirklich leicht herzustellen, wichtig ist aber, dass man sie auf gar keinen Fall essen darf, auch wenn sie sich sehr lecker anhören. Das beste an den Kreiden ist, dass man wahrscheinlich schon alle Zutaten zu Hause hat und die ganze Sache auch noch super billig ist.

Man braucht:

• farbige Straßenmalkreide
  
• ca. 120g Zucker
• 1/2 Liter Wasser
• Papier (dunkles Tonpapier funktioniert am besten)
• Haarspray (optional)
  

Also was macht man jetzt damit?
Man mischt das Wasser und den Zucker in einer Schale und rührt bis sich der Zucker aufgelöst hat. Dann legt man die Kreide in die Schale. Da die Kreide sich nicht hält, sollte man wohl die Kreide am besten in der Mitte durchbrechen und nur je Farbe ein Hälfte benutzen. Jetzt wartet man mind. eine Stunde, aber nicht länger als 24h. Sobald man die Kreide in das Zuckerwasser legt, hört man so ein zischendes Geräusch. Das ist völlig normal.

Wenn die Warterei dann endlich vorbei ist, kann man sie benutzen. Ich habe sie aus dem Wasser genommen und dann auf Küchentücher gelegt. Dann malt man damit, wie mit normalen Kreiden. Das tolle daran ist aber, dass, wenn die Kreide trocken ist, die Farben so richtig erstrahlen.

Zuerst schauts erst mal nicht so toll aus, aber dann trocknets ein bisschen und es wird alles etwas weißlich. Nach 20 Minuten dann aber, ist es richtig trocken und schaut wirklich toll aus.

Auf der rechten Seite ist die Kreide grad noch sehr frisch, links ist sie dann schon etwas getrocknet und dann nach einer Weile sieht man das Grün dann auch noch richtig leuchten. Zuerst, hab ich mir gedacht, dass das ja jetzt nicht so toll ist, aber man braucht nur etwas Geduld.

Die Hände und wahrscheinlich auch der Tisch werden dabei zwar dreckig, aber das ist nicht so schlimm, weil mit etwas Wasser und Seife ist das im nu wieder weg.

Die Bilder halten aber nicht ewig, deswegen sollte man überlegen, das ganze mit Haarspray zu fixieren.

Das wäre auch eine tolle Sache um Neujahr rum. Dann kann man die Kinder auf schwarzem Tonpapier einfach eine weiße Skyline malen lassen und mit bunten Kreiden, dann ein tolles farbenfrohes Feuerwerk.

Anyway, ever heard of sugarchalk? It's a great small art-project, you can do with your children and/or students. I've actually heard of it from a teacher at my university. I study to be an elementary teacher, in case you are wondering. So when she told me about it, I googled it and found lots of recipes; here and here und here und here.They are pretty much all alike and I am going to share with you, what I did, especially, because those pages are in German.

So this is really easy to do and your kids will enjoy it. And the best of it, it's likely you have everything at home already. But this is NOT something to eat, even though it sounds kinda yummy.

You need:

• colored street chalk
• 1/2 cup of sugar
• 2.5 cups of water
• paper (dark construction paper works best) 
• hairspray (optional)

Now what to do with it?
Mix the water and sugar in a container and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Then put the chalk into the mixture. I think you should only use half of one stick of each chalk color, because they don't keep. Now wait at least 60 min, but not more than a day before using the chalk. As soon as you put the chalk in you can hear a fizzy sound from the chalk. That's normal.

When the long wait is over, you can start using them. Take them out of the water and put them on some paper towels. Then just draw with them like you would with dry chalk. They are really fun, because the colors of the chalk will pop much more than when you just use normal chalk.

At first, it won't look really nice, then it dries and it looks a little whitish, but after 20min or so, you'll notice, that the colors will pop and look really nice.

On the right side, the chalk is new, whereas the left side had already dried, but after it will dry a little more and then you will see a far better green than that. At first, I thought that it actually wasn't so great, but it will dry some more and then the colors will stand out even more.

Hands and probably the table, too, will get dirty, but the nice part about it is, that with a little water and soap it's gone in a second. 

These pictures won't keep forever, so you might want to spray hairspray over them to fixate the chalk.

This would also be a nice thing to do on New Year's Eve/Day. You could have the children paint a simple white skyline on black paper and on top of it the colorful fire-works.
